For Merve, good skincare does not begin with a device, a product or a standard protocol. Every skin is different, and every person arrives with different expectations, concerns and previous experiences. Understanding that context comes first.
Technology, professional products and carefully developed protocols all have a place in her work—but none of them comes before the individual. The objective is not to do more. It is to make better-considered decisions for the person in front of her.

Merve began her professional journey in 2003 while studying Skin Care and Beauty Services at Rüştü Uzel Vocational High School and working at a beauty centre in Nişantaşı at the same time. From the beginning, formal education and hands-on practice developed side by side.
She later continued her education in Skin Care and Beauty Services at Istanbul Aydın University, graduating in 2011 while remaining professionally active. In 2017, she established the Merve Akkaya Beauty and Aesthetics Centre in Nişantaşı.
Today, she continues her professional journey in Istanbul alongside Dr. Abdurrahman Efem, Medical Aesthetic Doctor, while also contributing to professional skincare education through Efem Academy.

She has always placed greater value on personal recommendation than advertising. For Merve, long-term trust is not simply about someone returning for another appointment; it is about becoming the person they feel comfortable asking, “What do I actually need?”
People come not only for professional care, but also to understand their options, ask questions and make better-informed decisions about their skin. Knowledge should create clarity—not dependence or confusion.

Merve’s experience with professional skincare technology extends beyond operating individual systems. Throughout her career, she has worked with and taught the principles behind technologies used in professional skin and body care.
Her focus is on understanding how these technologies work, how they interact with skin and body tissues, and how that knowledge should inform professional decisions. Platforms change. Technologies evolve. The principles behind them remain the foundation.
Education has been part of Merve’s professional life since her early twenties. For approximately 17–18 years, she has trained professionals, teams and practitioners through distributor, brand, company, individual and in-house programmes covering technology, product knowledge, application protocols and client care.
